IT’S NOT THAT GRIM UP NORTH!

Good news this week in Construction News http://bit.ly/2klOD4C with thousands of new jobs being created. I think it’s a fantastic opportunity for people to move north and experience our quality of life!

Not only is HS2 one of the north’s biggest projects which will give a massive boost to our infrastructure, but the planning application went in last week for the St Michael’s scheme comprising two towers of 31 and 21 storeys backed by Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville which sees an area of Manchester further boosted by state of the art architecture.

There are wider forces at play here too, with the handover of the devolved health care budget for Manchester and the continuing drive to realise the Northern Powerhouse vision.

The number of cranes currently on site – not only in Manchester but across the major cities of the North – indicates a very positive future.

As a construction PR agency, we read with interest in Deloitte’s recent crane survey that the number of new start up construction sites in Manchester is now 40 per cent greater than the city’s previous high in 2007, with an unprecedented 6,963 residential units currently under construction in the city.

But let’s not forget that there’s more to life than business! While many city dwellers in London are tired of the high prices and constant congestion, they’re reluctant to move up to what the media allows them to believe is a cultural wasteland. However, it’s not quite so grim up North as the stereotypes might have them believe and as our pictures show!

Between the theatres and art galleries, the vibrant music scene, the major venues and the bijou restaurants, the North has everything anyone needs to enjoy the finer things in life.

While corporate London seems to be in some kind of post Brexit panic, the North is enjoying a renaissance that belies its reputation for dour battle axes and dark ‘Satanic hills’.

It’s cool and dynamic up North with a growing built environment mirrored by increasing commercial confidence. But don’t tell anyone – we like to see the look of surprise on their faces when they make it this far North and never want to leave. Come and join us!
