GETTING A DOG IS ONE OF LIFE’S TRUE TREASURES
A year and a half ago my husband and I were debating whether to get a dog. It is a very big commitment and one that should not be taken lightly. Fast forward to today and we are the proud parents of ‘Crazy’ Maisey, our buzzy, bouncy and ever-so-friendly cocker spaniel!
I cannot explain how much Maisey has changed our life - for the better. As Clare PR’s offices are within the grounds of our home it means Maisey is rarely on her own. Like any young child there has been the training and discipline to undergo – which in itself has sometimes been hilarious and at others harrowing!
The first week we got our little darling she ran off and we spent hours looking anxiously everywhere only to find she had made her way back home, climbed through the cat flap and was fast asleep lying comfortably in the cat’s basket!
Dog owners are some of the most friendly people we have ever met. There is something about owning a dog that makes people more friendly. Take for example when I used to power walk I rarely spoke to anyone and nobody would volunteer “Hi how are you today? Isn’t the weather shocking. Enjoy your walk…”. They would just pass me by in the street and likewise I would do the same. But owning a dog broadens your social circle most definitely.
Rarely do Maisey and I walk alone or not bump into at least three or four of our new friends who stop and chat.
I have to confess getting a dog has an added bonus – it has not only widened our network of friends but, in some cases, offered business opportunities which would not otherwise have occurred; the networking you can do is phenomenal!
It has certainly put life into perspective for us and has prioritised what are the most important aspects of life. The happiness that Maisey has given us is something you could never buy however successful we are in business.
